Kiki Beauty Rose Wax Lip Balm Review

About a month ago, Kiki Beauty sent me some of their products to review. Kiki Beauty is a luxury skincare brand and I was ecstatic to try out some of their products. I unashamedly stalked their website, reading up on the brand as well as the products grins sheepishly.  I love that they are a South African based company. Each and every product on their website left me intrigued. From the website design, the sleek, chic packaging of the products, to the ingredients and benefits of all of those products – I was definitely interested in it all! Everything looks very high end and top quality. About Kiki Beauty (taken from their website) :

I received 3 of their Make-Up Ready Range products and today I will be reviewing the Rose Wax Lip Balm. Claims (taken from Kiki Beauty) :

The Make-Up Ready Rose Wax Lip Balm consists of a rich natural base of aromatic rose wax which helps to rejuvenate and invigorate the delicate skin of the lips. This completely effective lip balm provides instant relief for dry, chapped lips and can help to repair damaged skin. Used beneath lipstick, over lipstick or by itself, the versatile Rose Wax Lip Balm forms a long-lasting protective film which seals in moisture and helps to keep those lips luscious and full.”

Ingredients (taken from Kiki Beauty
“Rose Wax (Rose Damascena Extract) – Rare ingredient obtained from the Damascena Rose bush. Helps to invigorate and renew skin while providing a protective layer.

Jojoba Seed Oil (Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil) – Moisturises and protects the skin.

Cocoa Butter (Theobroma Cacoa Seed Butter) – A butter extracted from the cacoa bean. This butter is high in fatty acids so it deeply hydrates and softens the skin. Also contains antioxidants.

Vitamin E (Tocopheryl Acetate) – Strengthens skin barrier and acts as an antioxidant to remove free radicals which cause ageing.”

Packaging: The Rose Wax Lip Balm comes in a tube with an unscrew-able top which reveals the applicator. As you can see, the applicator is not doefoot and is attached to the tube. I quite prefer it this way, because it is a lip balm and not a gloss. I imagine a doefoot applicator being messy in this case. It contains 15ml of product and comes packaged in a beautiful black box with silver glitter.

Formula:

The formula of this lip balm is very thick, but I suppose it is because of rose wax ingredient.
My Thoughts:

About 2 weeks ago I had a nasty, nasty cold. It was so bad my voice went away. Whenever I have a cold my lips tend to go extremely dry and chapped. I wasn’t feeling well enough to exfoliate my lips that week (they were too sore) so instead I reached for this product. Man, am I glad I did! Because my lips were chapped they were burning, but the first moment I put on the lip balm it was so incredibly soothing. I expected it to sting a little but it didn’t. It soothed my lips instantly. The formula is very thick, but I think that’s part of the reason it was so soothing. I’ve never tried a lip balm with such a thick formula before so of course I had my doubts, but they were easily put out when I tried the product. It applies easily, just be careful when squeezing the product – if you squeeze too hard you’ll have too much product on your lips.

I am absolutely in love with this product. I’ve searched high and low for a product that actually really help my lips when they are chapped and dry. I thought I found the “one” when I discovered the Lala Lips lip balm. I still enjoy my Lala Lips but honestly, this Rose Wax lip balm has knocked Lala Lips out of the park. It is currently my favorite lip balm simply because it works so well! I used the lip balm for one day about every 3 hours and my lips felt so much smoother. It didn’t burn/sting anymore. I saw results within one day and that’s kind of mind blowing, you know? It does make your lips shine, and as you might know I’m not a fan of shiny lips, but it’s not a deal breaker to me especially since the product works so amazingly. It doesn’t feel sticky or tacky on your lips but feels quite comfortable and soothing. So soothing. It definitely feels like you have something on your lips, but it didn’t feel uncomfortable to me. When you put your lips together it doesn’t feel like it’s been glued together. I apply a thin layer of it all over my lips and it lasted about 4 hours before I reapplied. It smells of fresh rose petals but the smell isn’t too overpowering and it does fade after a while. I wanted some color on my lips on one of the days I wore this, so I applied a pink lip liner all over my lips and applied this product over it. I applied a small amount so it wasn’t too shiny. I was very pleased with the results, it’s perfect for the “no makeup” makeup look. My lips didn’t look/feel greasy or oily but rather healthy and hydrated.

I’ve been using this product non stop for a week and a half and I am completely in love with it. As my Muslim readers might know, the month of Ramadaan is coming up soon, and it is such a struggle to find a product that will help for chapped and dry lips (due to fasting). I mean, cracked lips on Eid? BIG nono! Therefore I am beyond happy that I found this gem. I can apply it on my lips – to soothe and smoothen it – after a day of fasting and it will help tremendously. I’m using the product very sparingly so I can have enough left for the month of Ramadaan. Where To Purchase:

You can purchase this product directly from Kiki Beauty’s website. It retails for R180. I know, for a lip balm that is steep, but I honestly won’t mind paying that amount as the product honestly works so, so well. If you suffer from dry lips and haven’t found anything that helps, you should definitely give this product a try. It doesn’t contain any harmful ingredients so rest assured your lips will be feeling healthy and hydrated in no time!

Disclaimer: I received the Rose Wax Lip Balm from Kiki Beauty free of charge, but that in no way affects my review. This is not a sponsored post. All opinions are honest and my own.
